Near Death

A recent article was published reguard near-death experiences, or NDEs. It suggests that a NDE is a biological process. The research found a strong corolation between people that have had a NDE and a weaker sleep-wake barrier.

"It found that people with near-death experiences were more likely to have a sleep-wake system in which the boundaries between sleep and wakefulness were not as clearly regulated, and the dream sleep state - when there is rapid eye movement - can intrude into normal wakeful consciousness."

The Root of All Evil?

Richard Dawkins recently put out a documentary entitled The Root of All Evil? He posits it to be religion. He talks to some very frightening people during the course of the show. It was an excellent program that I don't have much to say about. No complaints.

"He explores the state of the three Abrahamic religions in the world today, from the political influence of rich and powerful Christian fundamentalist institutions in America to the deadly clash of Judaism, Christianity and Islam in the Middle East."

And later...
"Hellhouse movies are a new growth industry in the USA today. Graphically filmed, they demonise abortion and homosexuality with the explicit aim of scaring the viewers. Pastor Keenan Roberts explains that the aim is 'to leave an indelible impression on their lives that sin destroys … and Jesus saves'."

These are some quotes from a description of the show. I recommend watching the full program.
